Decorating with a little mistletoe, and the tradition of kissing under the mistletoe, dates all the way back to ancient Greece where it was a staple in marriage ceremonies due to its association with fertility. It was also common for the Celtic Druids to decorate with it as they felt it had healing qualities (although the berries are actually poisonous – don’t eat them!).
Mistletoe is also the state flower of Oklahoma.
Created on a 6″x6″ wood panel, this one of a kind artwork was handmade by Alecia Miller through a process of layering in the background and utilizing the transparency of the paints to achieve the light and airy feel of the final painting.
The artwork has been sealed with a protective varnish and is mounted in a black wood frame, ready to display in your home.
