Frond and Future is an original mixed media painting being released as part of the 25 Days of Minis for 2019.

This painting was inspired by a fern frond that was part of a batch I picked up for using in some printing projects. One of them was covered with  spores on the underside of the leaf, making it unsuitable for the work. But I did love the texture and the uniformity of the spore pattern, and knew it had to make its way to a painting.

Created on a 6″x6″ wood panel, this one of a kind artwork was handmade by Alecia Miller through a process of layering old book pages in the background and utilizing the transparency of the paints to achieve the feel of the final painting.

The artwork has been sealed with a protective varnish and is mounted in a black wood frame, ready to display in your home.
